The Whale
Has Sung
A necklace in our Out of This World Range which is heavily
influenced by sci-fi novels of the 50s and 60s.
The necklace is made from a pendant which has been hand sawn
into the shape of a stylised whale from sterling silver sheet. I
then added sterling silver wirework swirls to represent the
waves of the sea and added a giant Fordite ‘eye’.
The whale hangs upon a necklace chain made from sterling silver,
hammered links and wire wrapped freshwater pearls. The pearls
being a reference to the sea.
This whale necklace is extremely individual and unique.
Full length of necklace approx. 25 inches (including pendant)
Whale pendant is approx. 3 inches across

What is Fordite?
Fordite, sometimes
called motor agate is a man made substance. It is formed from
successive layers of spray paint used in the motor industry.
When the layers are thick enough, they are cut to size and
polished into cabochons. They are highly decorative and come in
very bright rainbow colours and crazy patterns.

Homage to the Sun God
Sterling Silver Bold Statement Necklace
"Homage to the
Sun God"
When I first decided upon the idea for this necklace it was
coming into the winter months and the sun was becoming weaker
and the nights longer. So what better way to celebrate the
return of the sun than through ancient symbolic reverence.
Homage to the Sun God is a necklace entirely handmade using
sterling silver.
The necklace is in two parts:
Part 1 - the chain made from sterling silver wire formed into
links. The chain is approx. 24 inches (61 cm) in length and can
be worn on its own, as a silver hand forged chain. It is
finished with a handmade clasp.
Part 2: The Sun God pendant is made from sheet sterling silver,
approx 2mm thickness and has sterling silver rays. The central
'belly' of the sun is a 1.92 ct heliodor beryl gemstone
(originates from brazil) which has been unconventionally set
upwards, into the centre of the pendant to symbolise flames
emanating from the suns centre. helios is Greek for 'sun'.
The sun is attached to the necklace via a sterling silver hook.
The sun is detachable.
This piece is much more than just a necklace, it is wearable
sculpture and a statement.
The necklace hangs long when worn.
Both the chain and the pendant are hallmarked with the Lynwood
jewellery hallmark, LJ.
The making of this necklace has been documented on our blog:

Sterling silver abstract necklace with CRYSTALLIZED Swarovski
Elements Statement Art Necklace
“I am finding myself
becoming more and more abstracted”
The necklace is themed around the idea of the abstraction of
thoughts and the different paths that life leads you down.
The necklace is made from a pendant that hangs from a leather
necklet.
The pendant is made using sterling silver wire, sterling silver
sheet metal and a single Swarovski crystal.
The pendant was constructed by soldering together a number of
semi-circles from sterling silver (representing the straight and
curved paths of life).
Once the two parts were complete, the smaller of the two was
loosely attached (using handmade sterling silver jump rings) to
the larger. This allow the pendant to have independent movement.
I then created some concave discs by doming sterling silver disc
cut outs, from sheet metal. These were hung from the pendant
using fine silver wire, wrapped randomly. This part of the
structure represents how seemingly random acts of kindness in
life can create pools of balance.
Finally, I hung an abstract shaped Swarovski crystal from the
pendant as a contrast to the silver structure.
The pendant, hangs from a sterling silver bar, which is hooked
onto a leather necklet using handmade sterling silver hooks.
I have created two separate necklets of differing sizes to allow
the wearer to vary the length of the pendant.
The necklace comes with two lengths of leather necklet.
Necklet 1 is in a sapphire blue and the length of the leather
necklet is approx. 66cm
Necklet 2 is light brown suede and the length of the leather
necklet is approx. 61cm
The length of the pendant including the crystal drop is approx.
15.5 cm
The piece is hallmarked.

The heart necklace was made to represent all of our hearts that
have been broken, but that time is now starting to heal. It is a
necklace that holds the hope of love eternal.

The Evil Eye
This necklace was inspired by my Irish father who a great
believer in the evil eye and its power to control the bad things
that happen from time to time in life.
It is a spectacular, unusual and meaningful statement necklace.
The necklace is made in two parts.
The first part is the 'chain' each link was hand forged from
sterling silver. Each link was shaped into a bone like form and
and they whole was joined together using sterling silver jump
rings to make a very fluid chain.
The 'eye' was made using thick sterling silver sheet. hand cut
into the shape of an eye. The eye then had stylised eyelashes
imprinted into the surface. A peridot stone was then set into
the middle of the eye to represent the iris.
The 'eye' is then attached to the chain by sterling silver
handmade hooks. The hooks are attached to the chain using a
semi-precious stone, aventurine.
The silver is polished to allow the eye to reflect any bad
feelings or spirits away from the wearer.
The peridot stone is 1.00 cts and oval cut.
Peridot is a very old stone and has been found in ancient
Egyptian jewellery. It has a spectacular green coloration.
Peridot is the birthstone of those born in August.
